Founded in 2021 by a Nashville drummer-turned-realtor, Muttz Realty is the dog-friendly brokerage where every transaction supports local animal rescues and organizations that support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Our Story
In 2016, John Zupancic moved to Nashville as a professional drummer, chasing the music dream like so many others. But the path to founding Muttz Realty began when John and his wife, Alex, bought their first home 2 years later.
Even though they could only afford the house because of Alex's job, agents and lenders would only talk to John; completely ignoring her. It was a wake-up call. There was no reason she should be sidelined in the biggest financial decision of their lives, yet the industry made it clear who they thought mattered.
That experience changed everything. John got his real estate license in 2018 with a clear mission: create a space where EVERYONE feels empowered, respected, and heard. Where generational wealth through real estate is accessible to everyone, not just the people the industry traditionally serves. Where no one ever feels less than, uninformed, or invisible.
After three years working in the industry as an affiliate broker, John got his Broker's license and opened Muttz Realty in 2021 to scale that mission. Today, we are a team of 12 agents committed to being ethical, honest, and a safer space for everyone. We have sold over 130 homes, donated more than $25,000 to local rescues and LGBTQ+ advocacy groups, and fostered 30 dogs and cats at our office.
